Question 1

Why is my airbag light still on after a minor bump in Stoke Newington?

Accepted Answer

Even a low-speed collision can trigger the airbag ECU to log 'crash data'. Until that data is cleared by a specialist — or the underlying fault fixed — the warning light stays on permanently. It will not reset itself and it will cause an MOT failure.

Question 2

Will my car fail its MOT with the airbag light on?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A permanently illuminated SRS/airbag warning light is an automatic MOT failure. The airbag system is classed as a safety-critical system and must be fully functional to pass.

Question 3

Do I need a new airbag ECU, or can the existing one be repaired?

Accepted Answer

In most cases the existing ECU can be reset or repaired — you do not need to replace the entire module. MnF Motors carries specialist airbag diagnostic software and will only recommend a replacement unit if the module is genuinely beyond repair.

Question 4

How much does airbag light diagnosis and repair cost in Stoke Newington?

Accepted Answer

A diagnostic scan starts from £65. Airbag ECU crash data reset or repair typically starts from £120. All pricing is confirmed to you before any work begins — no surprises.

Question 5

How long does the repair take?

Accepted Answer

A diagnostic scan takes around 30–60 minutes. If the fault is a crash data reset alone, the repair can often be completed the same day. More complex faults — such as a damaged clock spring or faulty sensor — may require an additional visit for parts.
