Question 1

What does fault code U0121 mean on my car?

Accepted Answer

U0121 means the vehicle's CAN bus network has lost communication with the ABS and ESP control module. It does not automatically mean the module has failed — wiring faults, corroded connectors and poor earth connections are equally common causes.

Question 2

Is it safe to drive with a U0121 fault code?

Accepted Answer

You should treat the car as having no ABS or stability control active. On dry roads in light traffic the risk is lower, but in wet or emergency-stop situations stopping distances and stability will be compromised. We recommend booking a diagnosis promptly.

Question 3

How much does U0121 diagnosis cost at MnF Motors?

Accepted Answer

A full CAN bus diagnostic at MnF Motors typically starts from around £65–£85 depending on vehicle complexity. Call 020 8803 1231 for a firm quote before you book.

Question 4

Will MnF Motors just replace the ABS module without diagnosing first?

Accepted Answer

No. A U0121 code is a communication fault, not an automatic confirmation the module is dead. Replacing a perfectly good module without proper CAN diagnosis wastes hundreds of pounds. MnF traces the exact fault first, every time.
