Question 1

What does fault code B0001 mean on my car?

Accepted Answer

B0001 is a body fault code that identifies a problem in the driver airbag squib circuit — the primary firing circuit that deploys the airbag. It most commonly points to a faulty clockspring (the coiled connector behind the steering wheel), a damaged wiring connector, or a fault within the airbag control module itself.

Question 2

Will a B0001 airbag fault cause an MOT failure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. An illuminated airbag warning light is an automatic MOT failure. You must have the fault diagnosed and repaired before your car can pass its MOT. MnF Motors can diagnose and repair B0001 faults and clear the light ready for your test.

Question 3

How much does B0001 airbag fault diagnosis and repair cost in Bounds Green?

Accepted Answer

Diagnosis at MnF Motors starts from £55. Repair cost depends on root cause: clockspring replacement typically ranges from £120–£250 including parts and labour. Wiring repairs are often lower. Module replacement varies by vehicle. We quote before any work begins — no surprises.

Question 4

Is it safe to drive with the airbag warning light on?

Accepted Answer

It is legal to drive short distances, but it is not safe. With a B0001 fault active, your driver airbag may not deploy in a collision. We strongly recommend getting the fault diagnosed as soon as possible. Do not ignore an airbag warning light.

Question 5

How long does a B0001 airbag repair take at MnF Motors?

Accepted Answer

In most cases we can diagnose the fault on the same day. If the root cause is a clockspring or connector, repair is typically completed within 1–2 hours. We will give you a realistic timeframe when you book.
