Question 1

What does the B1000 fault code mean on my car?

Accepted Answer

B1000 indicates an internal fault within the airbag control unit (ACU/SRS module). It most commonly appears after an accident where crash data has been stored in the module, preventing it from functioning normally. The airbag warning light stays on and the SRS system is disabled until the fault is resolved.

Question 2

Will a B1000 airbag fault cause an MOT failure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. An illuminated airbag warning light is an automatic MOT failure. If your car is due an MOT and the B1000 code is active, the test will fail at the first check. MnF Motors can repair the fault and carry out your MOT Testing in the same visit where possible.

Question 3

How much does it cost to fix a B1000 airbag ECU fault in Hoddesdon?

Accepted Answer

Crash data reset and module re-initialisation typically starts from around £85–£150 depending on vehicle make and whether the module needs bench repair or replacement. MnF Motors provides a fixed quote after diagnosis — no hidden charges, no extra charges surprises.

Question 4

Can I drive my car with a B1000 fault code active?

Accepted Answer

Technically the car will drive, but with a B1000 fault active your airbags and seatbelt pretensioners will NOT deploy in a collision. This is a serious safety risk. We strongly advise Hoddesdon drivers not to use the vehicle as normal until the SRS system is restored.
