Question 1

Why does my car cut out intermittently while driving in Hackney?

Accepted Answer

The most common causes are a failing crankshaft position sensor, a faulty fuel pump relay, a poor earth connection, damaged wiring or a deteriorating ECU. Because the fault is intermittent, it must be caught with live data while it is actually happening — a standard code read often shows nothing.

Question 2

How much does electrical fault diagnosis cost in Hackney?

Accepted Answer

MnF Motors charges from £60 for an electrical fault diagnosis session. The exact cost depends on how long the fault takes to replicate. Any repair work is quoted separately and agreed with you before any work begins.

Question 3

Will an OBD code reader from a parts shop fix this?

Accepted Answer

Not for an intermittent cut-out. If the fault is not present at the time of the scan, the code memory is often clear. Professional live-data monitoring is required to capture the exact moment the system fails.

Question 4

How long does the diagnosis take?

Accepted Answer

Most intermittent cut-out diagnoses take between one and three hours. Some faults replicate quickly on a road test; others need extended monitoring. We will always tell you how long we expect it to take before you commit.

Question 5

Is it safe to keep driving a car that cuts out intermittently?

Accepted Answer

No. A car that cuts out without warning can stall at a junction, on a roundabout or at speed on a dual carriageway. This is a safety issue and should be diagnosed as soon as possible.
