Question 1

My dash lights come on but the car won't crank — what does that mean?

Accepted Answer

Dash lights on means the battery has charge. The failure to crank points to a fault in the starting circuit — most commonly a faulty starter motor, a triggered immobiliser, a failed ignition switch, a faulty neutral/clutch safety switch, or a poor earth connection. A proper diagnostic test identifies the exact cause.

Question 2

How much does electrical fault diagnosis cost in Hackney?

Accepted Answer

MnF Motors charges from £55 for an electrical fault diagnosis. If we carry out the repair, the diagnostic fee is often absorbed into the total repair cost. We always give a clear quote before any work starts.

Question 3

How long does it take to diagnose a no-crank fault?

Accepted Answer

Most no-crank electrical diagnoses take between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the vehicle and the complexity of the fault. Simple faults like a clutch switch or earth can be found and fixed in a single visit.

Question 4

Can MnF Motors collect my car from Hackney if it won't start?

Accepted Answer

Hackney falls well within our 20-mile service radius from Edmonton N18. Call us on 020 8803 1231 and we can advise on recovery options and book you in as soon as possible.

Question 5

Is electrical fault diagnosis worth getting done professionally?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Guessing at a no-crank fault wastes money on parts you may not need. A proper diagnosis pinpoints the exact cause first time, saving you time, money and frustration.
