Question 1

Why is my engine management light flashing instead of staying on?

Accepted Answer

A flashing EML means the ECU has detected an active misfire severe enough to damage your catalytic converter. It is more urgent than a steady light — stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so and get the car diagnosed immediately.

Question 2

Can I drive to MnF Motors from Hertfordshire with a flashing EML?

Accepted Answer

We strongly advise against driving with a flashing EML. The misfire can destroy a catalytic converter within miles, turning a £150 coil job into a £600+ cat replacement. Call us on 020 8803 1231 for advice — we can often guide you on whether the car is safe to bring in or whether recovery is the wiser choice.

Question 3

How much does a misfire diagnosis and repair cost in Hertfordshire?

Accepted Answer

Diagnostic scan from £55. Common repairs: ignition coil £80–£150 fitted, spark plug set £60–£120 fitted, fuel injector £150–£300+ depending on make. We quote transparently before any work begins — no surprises.

Question 4

How long does a misfire diagnosis take?

Accepted Answer

The initial scan and cylinder identification usually takes 30–60 minutes. If parts are in stock, many repairs — a coil or plug swap — can be completed the same day.

Question 5

Does MnF Motors offer a warranty on misfire repairs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All parts and labour at MnF Motors are covered by our standard repair warranty. If the same fault returns, we'll investigate at no additional diagnostic charge.
