Question 1

Why do my headlights dip on their own while driving?

Accepted Answer

The most common cause is a poor earth connection reducing voltage to the headlight circuit. Alternator ripple (faulty diode pack) is a close second. In some modern cars a Body Control Module (BCM) fault can cause the system to misread load and briefly cut power, causing a visible dip.

Question 2

Is a flickering dashboard dangerous?

Accepted Answer

It can be. Voltage instability affects ABS, airbags, and power steering on modern vehicles. It should be diagnosed promptly — not just monitored.

Question 3

How much does electrical fault diagnosis cost in Barnet?

Accepted Answer

MnF Motors charges from £60 for a live-data and oscilloscope electrical diagnostic. That fee is transparent and agreed up front — no hidden add-ons.

Question 4

How long does the diagnosis take?

Accepted Answer

Most electrical diagnostics take between 45 minutes and 90 minutes. If the fault is intermittent we may need to replicate driving conditions on the road test, but we will always explain the plan before starting.

Accepted Answer
