Question 1

Why have my horn and hazard lights stopped working at the same time?

Accepted Answer

When both fail together it almost always points to a shared circuit component — most commonly the clockspring (spiral cable) inside the steering column, a single blown fuse or relay, or a BCM output fault. Coincidental double failure is rare; a shared root cause is almost always the explanation.

Question 2

Will this fail an MOT?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A non-functioning horn is an automatic MOT failure. Non-functioning hazard lights are also an MOT failure. Both faults together will result in an immediate fail — get them diagnosed before your next test.

Question 3

How much does horn and hazard light repair cost in Leyton?

Accepted Answer

Diagnostic starts from £60. A fuse or relay fix is typically under £30 for parts. A clockspring replacement — the most common cause — is usually £80–£160 all-in depending on vehicle. BCM-related work varies by make and model. MnF quotes honestly after diagnosis, not before.

Question 4

How long does the repair take?

Accepted Answer

A fuse or relay fix can be same-day, often within an hour. Clockspring replacement typically takes 1–2 hours. BCM reprogramming or replacement may require an additional booking slot. Most Leyton customers get their car back the same day.
