Question 1

Why has my pre-collision assist warning come on after a bumper repair?

Accepted Answer

The front radar module sits behind or inside the bumper. Even a small shift in its angle during removal and refit is enough to put the beam out of spec. The system detects the misalignment and raises a fault — usually U or C-series codes — disabling AEB and collision warning. The fix is radar recalibration, not a new sensor.

Question 2

How much does ADAS camera and radar calibration cost in Loughton?

Accepted Answer

Static calibration at MnF Motors typically starts from around £120–£180 depending on the vehicle and whether camera-only or combined camera-and-radar calibration is needed. We confirm the exact price before any work starts — no surprises.

Question 3

How long does ADAS calibration take?

Accepted Answer

Most static calibrations are completed within 60–90 minutes. Dynamic calibrations, where the vehicle must be driven at a set speed on a clear road, may add another 30 minutes. We aim to have Loughton customers back on the road the same day.

Question 4

Can I drive with the pre-collision assist fault showing?

Accepted Answer

You can drive legally, but your automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning are disabled until calibration is complete. That is a real-world safety gap, especially on the A104 and M11 routes Loughton drivers use daily. We recommend booking promptly.

Question 5

Will the bodyshop pay for the recalibration?

Accepted Answer

They should. Recalibration after bumper work is part of a proper repair. MnF Motors can produce a timestamped calibration certificate and a detailed invoice that supports a claim back to the bodyshop or your insurer. See our Warranty Claims page for guidance on third-party work disputes.
