Question 1

Why has my pre collision assist warning light come on after a bumper repair?

Accepted Answer

The radar sensor sits behind the front bumper or grille. When the bumper is removed or refitted, even a tiny shift in the sensor's angle throws it out of alignment. The system detects it's no longer pointing at the correct target zone and logs a fault, disabling AEB and collision warning until the radar is recalibrated to the manufacturer's specification.

Question 2

Do bodyshops recalibrate ADAS after a bumper repair?

Accepted Answer

Most independent bodyshops do not. Calibration requires specialist equipment, a level workshop bay with controlled target distances, and manufacturer software access. Most bodyshops simply refit the bumper and hand the car back. The fault only appears once you drive away and the system runs its self-check.

Question 3

How much does ADAS camera and radar calibration cost in Waltham Abbey?

Accepted Answer

At MnF Motors, calibration starts from £120 depending on your vehicle make and model. We carry out a full diagnostic scan first so you only pay for what is actually needed. No parts are quoted until we have confirmed the root cause. We serve Waltham Abbey as part of our 20-mile service radius from Edmonton N18.

Question 4

Is it safe to drive with a pre collision assist fault?

Accepted Answer

You can legally drive in most cases, but your automatic emergency braking and collision warning systems will be inactive. These are safety-critical features. We strongly recommend getting the fault resolved promptly, especially for motorway or A-road driving on routes like the M25 or A121 around Waltham Abbey.

Question 5

Will my warranty be affected if I use MnF Motors instead of a main dealer?

Accepted Answer

No. Under block exemption regulations you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced and repaired at any qualified independent garage without voiding your manufacturer warranty, provided the correct parts and procedures are used. MnF Motors follows manufacturer calibration procedures and issues a calibration certificate with every job.
