Question 1

Why does my steering wheel shake when I brake?

Accepted Answer

The most common cause is warped or unevenly worn brake discs. When the disc surface is no longer perfectly flat, the caliper pads grip an uneven surface and transmit vibration up through the steering column. A sticking caliper is another common cause. A proper run-out measurement will confirm which.

Question 2

How much does brake disc and pad replacement cost in Finchley?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on your vehicle make, model, and which axle needs attention. At MnF Motors we provide a transparent, itemised quote before any work begins — no surprises. Call 020 8803 1231 for a fast estimate.

Question 3

Is it safe to drive to Finchley with a shaking steering wheel when braking?

Accepted Answer

You should get it checked as soon as possible. Warped discs reduce braking efficiency and the vibration can worsen over time. If the shaking is severe or braking distance feels longer than normal, arrange repair before driving long distances.

Question 4

How long does brake disc and pad replacement take?

Accepted Answer

A standard front or rear axle brake disc and pad replacement takes approximately 1–2 hours at MnF Motors. We'll give you an accurate time estimate when you book.

Question 5

Will warped discs cause my car to fail its MOT?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Excessive disc run-out, heavily scored surfaces, or worn pads below the minimum thickness are all MOT failure points. Sorting your brakes before your MOT saves you a retest fee.
