Question 1

What does fault code U0121 mean?

Accepted Answer

U0121 means the vehicle's main control network (CAN bus) has lost communication with the ABS control module. The ABS module is present but not responding. This triggers ABS, ESP and traction control warning lights and can cause the speedometer to drop out.

Question 2

Is it safe to drive with a U0121 fault code?

Accepted Answer

Anti-lock braking and stability control are disabled when U0121 is active, which significantly increases stopping distances in an emergency. We strongly recommend getting the car diagnosed before driving on motorways or in adverse conditions.

Question 3

How much does U0121 diagnosis cost at MnF Motors?

Accepted Answer

Electrical fault diagnosis for U0121 starts from £60 at MnF Motors. That includes a full wiring, power and earth test before any parts are recommended — you only pay for what is actually needed.

Question 4

Will I need a new ABS module for U0121?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. In our experience, U0121 is caused by a wiring or earthing fault at least as often as a failed module. Replacing the module without diagnosing first is expensive and frequently does not fix the fault. MnF Motors traces the root cause before recommending any part.

Question 5

Does MnF Motors serve Hertfordshire for ABS fault diagnosis?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MnF Motors in Edmonton N18 is within 20 miles of most of Hertfordshire, including Potters Bar, Waltham Cross, Cheshunt, Waltham Abbey and Enfield. We welcome Hertfordshire drivers for diagnostics, electrical repairs and servicing.
